SNM encourages all faculty to participate in the National Faculty Initiative at www.NFEInitiative.org.  This activity was developed by the Society of Academic Medicine, Alliance for Continuing Medical Education in collaboration with the American Association of Medical Colleges to educate CME faculty on the differences between certified CME activities and commercial marketing/promotional programs.  This activity is free of charge and uses a cased based format to provide information on federal regulations, ACCME accreditation and professional standards and their roles and responsibilities for certified CME or commercial programs.

Any faculty found to have conflicts in their presentations will be required to participate in this activity for assurance of independence and validity of any educational content that is presented.

Abstract "presenters" (also known as “Presenting Authors”) are authors of accepted abstracts scheduled for presentation during scientific oral and/or poster sessions. Presenters, unlike Education Faculty [or CE] Speakers, are required to submit financial disclosure information during the abstract submission process.

“Presenters” are distinguished from CE “Speakers”, in that Presenters give presentations for SCIENTIFIC sessions, whereas CE Speakers deliver didactic talks for CONTINUING EDUCATION (CE) sessions/courses. Presenters are NOT entitled to honoraria nor complementary registration, nor are they required to submit expense reports to SNM. Presenters are, however, required to present the abstract material, if accepted, during the scheduled session by registering for the Meeting.

For more detailed information concerning Abstract Presenters, go to the abstracts webpage at www.snm.org/abstracts.
