Become a Member

If you are new to the SNM, please complete the Online Membership Application or print the Downloadable Membership Application (.pdf file) directly from your screen. Complete all requested information to avoid delays in processing.

If you are a "past" member of the SNM and would like to reactivate your membership, please complete the Online Membership Reactivation Form. If you remember your membership number, please include it on the form.

If we locate your previous record, we will reactivate the record for the current fiscal membership year. If we can't locate your past record, we will process you as a new member. Please allow 2-4 weeks for processing. Confirmation and billing will be sent through regular mail. If you would like to apply and pay be telephone, please call the Membership Department at 703-708-9000 and your membership will be immediate. Your invoice can be sent to you via e-mail if you prefer.

The Membership Category you select will be reviewed based on the information you provide and in accordance with Society Bylaws. For further information, please refer to Benefits and Categories of Membership.

To be eligible for "In-Training" status, at least 90 days must be remaining in your formal training program.Your application must be accompanied by a letter signed by your program chair confirming your student status Along with this letter, your program director needs to provide us with your graduation date; address, telephone number, and e-mail address. The program director can either send this information through the mail or contact us by fax or at the e-mail provided at the end of this section.

As an SNM member, you are automatically enrolled in one of thirteen state/regional SNM Chapters comprising the United States and Canada. If you want to belong to a different Chapter, submit a request when you apply. All members outside of the U.S. and Canada are classified as Members-At-Large. SNM Chapter dues are billed in conjunction with your National member dues, payment of which is mandatory and will confer privileges and benefits at each level of membership.

Allow 4-6 weeks for processing and for receipt of journals.

September 30, and are pro-rated by the month for brand new members. Please do not prepay dues as an invoice will be mailed to you.

NEW! Discount on Membership from members of related organizations!

SNM is now offering a one-year special membership promotion of 50% discount off first-year membership dues for full and associate member categories and a 50% discount on the member registration fee during SNM meetings for one-year for new SNM members (never before members) who are members of "related organizations". "Related organizations" would include AACR, AAPM, AMI, EANM, ESMI, FASMI, ICUS, IEEE, ISMRM, RSNA, SMI, and SPIE.

NEW! Scientists in Training

The SNM is now offering scientists in training free membership. Trainees will get free membership, for up to three years, with proof of post doctorial training from an advisor. If you would like to participate, please have your program director provide the following information on your behalf:

  • Name of the institution
  • Preferred mailing address
  • Preferred email address
  • Preferred telephone number
  • Expected graduation date

This should be submitted via email as an attachment (PDF, Excel, or Word document) to Memberinfo@snm.org.

Technologist Students & Residents
