American Board of Science in Nuclear Medicine (ABSNM)
A certificate by the ABSNM indicates that its holder has successfully completed certain requirements of study and professional experience which the Board considers necessary to constitute an adequate foundation in Nuclear Medicine Science which includes Nuclear Medicine Physics and Instrumentation, Nuclear Pharmaceutical Science and Radiochemistry and Radiation Protection.
American Board of Radiology (ABR)
An examination in Nuclear Radiology is offered annually to Scientists in Radiology or Diagnostic Radiology by the ABR. Scientists in Radiation Oncology are not eligible. Candidates that pass the exam are issued a ten-year time-limited certificate in Diagnostic Radiology with Special Competence in Nuclear Radiology.
